IndonesiaIndonesia participated, along with other educators and nutritionists from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka, in the Inter-Country Workshop on "Feeding Minds Fighting Hunger (FMFH)'' organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), through its Associated School Project Network (ASPnet). The workshop was held in Hyderabad, India at the National Institute of Nutrition between 27-29 August, 2002. The aim of the workshop was to evaluate the relevance, appropriateness and usefulness of the FMFH materials for Asian countries, examine ways to introduce and promote the FMFH lessons into schools and curricula in each of the participating countries, and to develop proposals for World Food Day activities based on FMFH issues. Each of the participating countries developed a plan of action for implementing the FMFH initiative. A number of suggestions have been made in order to promote the FMFH initiative in Indonesia, including: selecting schools for implementation through the ASPnet schools, and through the School Feeding, Health School and Boy Scouts Programmes; conducting pilot projects and sensitization programmes; translating the materials into local/national languages; organizing national teacher training workshops; and organizing FMFH drawing, poster and writing competitions. |
