XIII Conference of the First Ladies of the Americas

First Ladies of the Americas adopted FMFH as a flagship project at the XIII Conference of the First Ladies of the Americas in Asunción, Paraguay 28-30 September. A Declaration on Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger was signed by a number of countries and many more are expected to sign.

First Lady Paraguay nominated Special Ambassador

The First Lady of Paraguay, María Gloría Penayo de Duarte, who presided over the Conference has been named Special Ambassador to FAO to help raise awareness of hunger and malnutriton in the world. The First Lady will be promoting the "Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger" youth education initative as the primary focus of her campaign to end hunger.

  




FMFH Regional Workshop for Latin America and the Caribbean

The Food and Nutrition Division of FAO and the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) jointly organized a Regional Workshop for Latin America and the Caribbean on "Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger". The workshop took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 24-26 March, 2004. Participants from 17 countries, in the Region attended the Workshop, including the UNESCO ASPnet National Coordinators, nutritionists and nutrition educators, curriculum developers, and representatives from Ministries of Health and Education.


FAO WAGGGS Nutrition Medals Awards Ceremony-13 October 2003

On 13 October 2003, FAO-WAGGGS nutrition medals were awarded to 7 FMFH projects for World Food Day 2003.

Second Edition of the "Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger" Competition 2003

Following last year's great success, The Italian NGO New Trends, in collaboration with the Lazio Region and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, organized once again this year a drawing, poster and slogan competition. Students and teachers in the Lazio Region were invited to take part and submit their art works on the topic of world hunger with reference to the 2003 World Food Day theme: Working together for an International Alliance Against Hunger. On 27 November 2003, an official celebration ceremony took place in Rome's Palazzetto dello Sport for winners to receive their awards. Funds were collected for donation to country micro-projects through the FAO TeleFood campaign. Some of the best art works will also be reproduced as greeting cards.
